Tuscon, We've been learnin stuff
CommentWhile at Tucson, Carol of Benicia Beads, Linda a friend, and I took some classes. We had a great time. One class we took was pewter casting using sand with Kim St. Jean (check out her Facebook page) . We got a hunk of pewter and went to town. Some students cast and cast, others kept re-melting the pewter. Me, I did a little of both.
At lunch, I found this Shock Top beer cap. I cast the moon face into the beer cap. When I got home, I imbedded some little polished pebbles, wire wrapped a bail, added some dangles and there you go. I like how he turned out. I love how his face looks gravelly like he has been on the road for some time and imbedded with road rocks from his travels. But yet he is happy and content.
Me too, I am happy and content today.

Tucson Gem Show
CommentI was so lucky! Carol from Benicia Beads invited me to go with her to Tucson. I have never been and have been wanting to go for some time. We shopped, took some great classes, shopped, went to garage sales, and had some wonderful food and wine! It was a very fun trip.
So, I had plans to update daily with photos from our classes and neat beads and .... but the internet connection at our hotel was basically nonexistent. And I also forgot to take pictures as my eyes glazed over looking at all the pretty beads! I leave you today with just a picture of shark teeth from one booth. In the next few days, I will show you some of the jewelry we made in classes and some things I bought to put on the Shop, Etsy and sell at the NorCal Bead Bazaar that is coming up in March.
Thanks for listening.

Little Birds
CommentI sprained my wrist in November and wasn't able to do much in the way of working pliers, wire and little beads. So I took advantage of that and started making little birds.
I had purchased this pattern awhile ago because i just liked the little guys. The pattern is from Ann Wood and you too can get the pattern here.
She also makes these wonderful owls.
So I have been making a bunch of these little birds and giving them away to family and friends. I haven't stopped making them even though my wrist has healed! Just a few more!
