Lei Hulu Lokelani

Pink Feather Lei

Pink represents the Island of Maui

I took a fun class today at
The Hale Ho 'ike 'ike
Bailey House, Wailuku, Hawaii

We spent the day learning how to make a traditional feather lei.
It is supposed to look like rose buds using just feathers.

We started at 9am and went to 2pm.
This is how far I got.
Each feather is stitched on by hand.
An experienced artist can make one lei in about a day.

Not too bad for my first try.
I am hoping the feathers start to lay down a bit more because they are kinda crazy right now!

It was a fun day.

Thanks for listening.

I made this

I made this sleeve for my kindle from a leather jacket I picked up at the Goodwill.

I had ordered 2 or 3 sleeves that didn't fit correctly.
So I made this one and it turned out pretty good.

I still have lots of leather to make some purses and other sleeves.

Thanks for Listening.

Cheese

Kolby Fehlberg-BurnsComment

We went up to Oregon for the weekend.
Had a great time visiting friends and family.
And of course since we were in the neighborhood, we had to go on the
Tillamook Cheese Factory Tour.

I don't know why every picture I took has a cheddar cheese tint to them.
Maybe I should have bought one of the postcards.

But then we had to have just a taste, well one scoop of their ice cream!
My pick was cookies and cream. I know, I know, I usually go for the vanilla.

Even though we had just eaten a big plate of fresh locally caught fish and chips!
A good time was had by all.

Thanks for Listening.

My Mom gave me this little vintage lamp for the early 1900's.
She said it came from my Great Grandfather's Plum Farm.
My Grandfather rescued it years ago.
I just rewired it with vintage looking cotton covered wire cord,
a new plug and cool Edison light blub.

I love it.
Thanks for Listening.
